MONTGOMERY, Alabama -- Hampstead Farms has been named as a venue on the 2011 culinary tour from Outstanding in the Field. Of the 80 locations listed on this year's 7-month international tour, Montgomery is the sole Alabama stop.
Outstanding in the Field is a food organization that encourages and promotes community-supported agriculture and community gardens. Their annual tour travels from city to city, setting up a single, long dinner table, with seating for over 100 people, at outdoor locations such as farms, vineyards, beaches, and riversides. A meal is served featuring local ingredients in dishes prepared by a renowned regional chef.
For the Hampstead Farms event, Joe Wolfson of Ham & High, recently a finalist for Food & Wine's "People's Best New Chef" Award, will be the featured guest chef.
In the listing on their website, Outstanding in the Field had this to say:
Ham and High looks pretty cool. This restaurant has it going on. Outstanding in the Field has gone far and this is a place you want to come back to.
The dinner, hosted by farmers Anna Lowder and Harvi Sahota, will take place October 13, 2011 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $180 and go on sale March 20.
