Biscuits Grand Re-Opening Weekend June 22-25

The Montgomery Biscuits and new owner Lou DiBella are excited to announce a "Grand Re-Opening Weekend" taking place from Thursday, June 22nd through Sunday, June 25th to kick off the second half of the Biscuits 2017 season.   Biscuits fans can expect a wide range of entertainment options and special events throughout the entire weekend!

On Thursday, June 22nd, the party will begin with an appearance by "The Human Cannonball", David "The Bullet" Smith, Jr.! Immediately following the game against the Birmingham Barons, a giant cannon will be set up in centerfield, which will shoot "The Human Cannonball" across the infield into a safety net behind home plate! During the game which begins at 7:05 PM, fans can also enjoy a Jimmy Buffett themed Pub Crawl with Thirsty Thursday Drink Specials throughout the night and a post-game concert in the Club Car Bar by local group "Bama Breeze".

In the spirit of "Friday Night Fights", Friday will mark a very special occasion, as the current WBC Heavyweight Champion of the World, Deontay Wilder will make an appearance and throw out a ceremonial first pitch at Riverwalk Stadium. A Tuscaloosa native, Deontay is currently 38-0 with 37 knockouts, boasting a 97% knockout rate which is the highest in boxing today. In addition to the Heavyweight Champ, the Biscuits will also be honoring those who keep Montgomery and the River Region safe with "Public Safety Appreciation Night". Friday's game begins at 7:05 PM, with gates opening at 5:50 PM and concludes with a MAX Fireworks Spectacular!

On Saturday, June 24th, the Biscuits will be hosting a "Block Party" in front of the stadium on Tallapoosa St. beginning at 3:00 PM until the Biscuits take on the Barons at 6:35 PM. The party will feature local area food trucks, a crawfish boil prepared by the Biscuit's chef "Smoke" Johnson, inflatable games for kids, and live music. Headlining the event will be performances by the legendary, trailblazing rapper, Kurtis Blow. Kurtis was the first rapper to ever sign a major record deal, earn a Gold Record, and appear on national TV. He would became a household name with his hits "The Breaks" and "Basketball" in the 80's. Now an ordained minister, Blow will also be involved in that night's Family Faith Night, presented by Faith Radio. National Christian recording artists "Calling Glory" will also be on hand to perform prior to the game. The block party on Tallapoosa St. will be completely free to the public, with admission to the game and MAX Fireworks requiring a regular Biscuits ticket.

Finally, on Sunday, June 25th, the Biscuits will be hosting "Superheroes Night" in support of local youth associations. Any child under the age of 12 who wears a team or association uniform to the ballpark on Sunday will receive free admission to the game! The team's original "Superheroes Night" on May 18th was unfortunately rained out, so given the popularity and interest in the event, the night will be re-done in its entirety on the 25th. This includes costumed heroes roaming the concourse for photo opportunities, in-game themed music, videos, promotions, and costume contests for kids not in team uniforms.

"Our new Ownership group, our Management team, and the Biscuits' staff that you've come to know are excited to usher in a new era for Montgomery Baseball on 'Grand Re-Opening Weekend'," said Lou DiBella. "From the amazing Human Cannonball, Alabama's very own heavyweight champion of the world, legendary hip-hop pioneer (and minister) Kurtis Blow to a block party, live music and non-stop family fun, we're going to show you what we've got. We're going to begin the second half of the Montgomery Biscuits season with the kind of excitement and community spirit that we want to bring to the Greater Montgomery Area 12 months a year, for many years to come. These Biscuits will be hot."
