PRESS RELEASE

“Surviving Hitler: A Love Story”

September 07, 2011

The Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers begins it's Fall tour at the Capri Theatre on Thursday, September 8 with filmmaker John Keith Wasson presenting his film Surviving Hitler: A Love Story. There is one show only at 7:30pm. Mr Wasson will be on hand to present the film and discuss it with the audience.

As a teenager in Nazi Germany, Jutta is shocked to discover she is Jewish. She joins the German resistance and meets Helmuth, an injured soldier. The two become sweethearts and coconspirators in the Valkyrie plot to assassinate Hitler. Surviving Hitler: A Love Story is a harrowing tale of war, resistance and survival. At the center of the documentary is a love story for the ages, original 8mm footage (shot by Helmuth) and, miraculously, a happy ending.

John Keith Wasson received his MFA in filmmmaking in London. He has worked predominantly as a cinematographer. His shooting credits include the award-winning documentary The Devil Came on Horseback. In 2007. John Keith met Jutta. She shared with him the details from her life and eventually trusted him with her hom movies and love letters. This is John Keith's directorial debut.

The Jewish Federation of Central Alabama will host a filmmaker reception at 6:30pm in the lobby of the Capri Theatre.
