(Montgomery, Ala.) – An evening of worship and praise to support ongoing tornado relief efforts will be held in downtown Montgomery on Thursday, May 19, 2011.
Known as “Sweet Home Alabama: An Evening of Praise on Dexter Plaza,” the community-wide Contemporary Christian concert will take place on Thursday, May 19, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The free, family-friendly concert will be staged in the heart of Montgomery at Historic Dexter Plaza. The area will be closed to vehicular traffic for the unique, outdoor event, allowing hundreds of River Region citizens to fill the plaza in support of fellow Alabamians affected by the recent storms.
The concert will be led by praise and worship band members from throughout Alabama. Pastors and preachers from a wide variety of area churches will also participate as guest speakers. A voluntary, financial offering will be taken during the concert with all proceeds going to tornado relief charitable efforts.
