MEDIA CONTACT: Stacia Bailey MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA, Friday, August 14, 2009 – The Montgomery Ballet will present a special program to commemorate the events that took place on September 11th. This year the ballet’s annual FREE program at the zoo for the citizens of the Capital City, Ballet and the Beasts, will take place on September 11, 2009 at 7:30 pm. The Ballet will bring the community together in a program that will focus on hope, healing and inspiration. The Montgomery Ballet Artistic Director, Elie Lazar, will compose a program where the Montgomery ballet will share the stage with the Montgomery chorale, led by Becky Taylor, Mrs. Greta Lambert of the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, and Mr. Neil David Seibel of AUM’s Theatre Department. The program will include sections from the Montgomery Ballet Company’s Gloria and Lazar’s Dance with Me to the End of Love and new works choreographed especially for this evening. Ballet and the Beasts is a traditional event that the Montgomery Ballet, the capital’s official and only professional ballet company, presents annually with the City of Montgomery and the Montgomery Zoo. This year the major sponsor for this event is Zoo Friends whose sponsorship insures the continuation of this event in the 18th year. Montgomery Ballet is thankful to the Zoo Friends for their support and help in bringing a top quality program to the Montgomery Zoo. The Montgomery Zoo gates will open at 6 PM for visitors to enjoy the zoo sites. The Performance will begin at 7:30 PM.
