Lecture: Women’s Work

Following the opening reception for the exhibition, Dr. Kathleen Spies of Birmingham Southern will deliver a lecture on Women’s Work: Prints from the Collection of the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, Dr. Spies will explore the range of expressions in the show, spanning the early 19th to the early 21st centuries, including work that is figurative and abstract, universal and specific to the realm and influence of women. A specialist in Modern and American art, Dr. Spies also has an interest in gender studies and is currently working on a book about female performers in the 20s and 30s.
