MAAFA 2016 Commemoration

Join the Montgomery MAAFA Commemoration and the International Coalition to Commemorate the African Ancestors of the Middle Passage (ICCAAMP) as we remember the Ancestors of the Maafa! The MAAFA 2016 Commemoration will be held on Saturday, July 9th at 7am. This commemoration provides an opportunity for members of the African-descended community to remember the millions of Africans -- men, women, and children, who were sold, kidnapped, shipped and who died along the route from Africa to the Americas.

Attendees are encouraged to wear white. Gathering Site is Montgomery and Commerce Streets at the Montgomery Slave marker near the historic Court Square Fountain. For additional information or questions call 334-233-2391.
