Central’s Executive Chef Competes at World Food Championship!

Montgomery, AL (Monday, November 7, 2016) Central Restaurant’s executive chef, Brandon Burleson, was selected to compete in the World Food Championships in Orange Beach, Alabama this week. This is the world’s largest event in food sports and will take place Nov 9-15th. A mix of corporate, restaurant and amateur chefs will be competing for a $300,000 prize purse and the title of 2016 World Food Champion. Chef Brandon is the only chef representing the River Region this year and is competing in two qualifying events on Thursday and Friday. If he makes the top 10 on any of the competitions, he will continue on to the finals Saturday. Chef Brandon came to Central in April of 2016 and is influenced by the bold flavors from New Orleans to the Caribbean, the availability of fresh gulf seafood, and the traditional southern dishes he grew up to love. He has truly brought a unique twist to Southern classics. Chef Brandon has represented Alabama across the country competing in events such as National Shrimp Festival Restaurant Challenge and taking home top honors.
This year will be Chef Brandon’s 3rd time competing at the World Food Championships and his first time representing Central Restaurant and the River Region. Having previously competed in the World Food Championships, he placed in the Top 10 at World Seafood Championship competing against chefs from over 37 states and 8 different countries.
